Putting others first

We must put aside the love and concern we have for ourselves to make room for the love of another. God's love is all around us all the time. If we make room, he will surely come in.
Our ego doesn't want to be dependent on anyone; it wants to be dependent on us, so we appear to be someone special. But there is only One that is not dependent on anyone and that is God!
Humility causes us to begin to fit into God's kingdom and into the purpose He has for our lives which is fellowship with Himself.

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. (Philippians 2:3, 4 NLT)

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Don’t give offense to Jews or Gentiles or the church of God. I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved. (1 Corinthians 10:31-33 NLT)

"You follow Me"

When a person is watching and worrying about someone else's relationship with God, chances are that person is not taking the time to enjoy her own relationship with God!

I tell you the truth, when you were younger, you tied your own belt and went where you wanted. But when you are old, you will put out your hands and someone else will tie you and take you where you don’t want to go.” (Jesus said this to show how Peter would die to give glory to God.) Then Jesus said to Peter, “Follow me!”
Peter turned and saw that the follower Jesus loved was walking behind them. (This was the follower who had leaned against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who will turn against you?”) When Peter saw him behind them, he asked Jesus, “Lord, what about him?”
Jesus answered, “If I want him to live until I come back, that is not your business. You follow me.” John 21:18-22

In this time of Facebook, that most of the time we only see the good side of somebody's life, is so easy to forget the goodness of the Lord in our lives, to get sidetracked... In the scriptures above God is reminding you to follow the path he has created for you - no matter what happens to other people. You are responsible only for yourself!

Don't limit God

"Call to me and I will... tell you... things you do not know." Jeremiah 33.3
Instead of asking God for the blessing you desire, give God the opportunity to bless you the way he wants to!
It is possible that God has a blessing for you that you could never imagine, but which, when granted, will make your life more beautiful and joyous than ever before.
In tough times we have the tendency to lower our expectations. As a result we end up setting for less than God wants.
"Is anything too hard for the Lord?" Genesis 18:14
So have high expectations of God and respond in faith to whatever he tells you!
God is neither enhanced by your strengths nor inhibited by your struggles! There is more than he wants to do through you than what you have experienced so far.
